At reception, when we collected the keys, they told us to leave the keys and parking remote inside the apartment when we checked out. On departure, I needed to get the car out of the garage, so I opened the door and left the keys inside for the two minutes it takes to walk from the garage to the apartment, just as instructed. Two hours later, they called saying the remote was missing. We went to reception to talk to whoever we needed to because I was sure I'd left everything there. They said they wouldn't return our deposit. I asked to speak to management, the cleaning staff, or anyone, but they said we couldn't. I went back to the apartment to check, and found the cleaning staff member very upset. She had found the keys without the remote. We returned to reception and asked to speak to someone again. I wondered what I'd need the remote for if I wasn't from there, but they still wouldn't let us speak to anyone. They kept the remote and the deposit.
