The owners were there to greet us and were incredibly friendly, which made for a very pleasant stay. We had the house for 8, and it was spacious and very clean, with a fully equipped kitchen, a huge living and dining room, and a comfortable sofa.

It’s in a perfect spot for visiting all the must-see places in the area, and the value for money is excellent. The house was super comfortable and clean, with all the amenities. The couple running it were lovely and attentive, met us when we arrived, and made everything as easy as possible. A trip here is truly worthwhile. If you’re heading to the Baztan Valley, don’t miss this opportunity. I can’t imagine finding anything better.

The owners are very friendly, and the house is well equipped for rural tourism. There are some drawbacks: it sits right by the road, so cars and motorcycles go past at seven in the morning, and there are lots of flies, though I suppose that comes with being properly rural. Zugarramurdi itself has very little to offer and feels excessively isolated. Still, San Sebastián, Hondarribia, Saint-Jean-de-Luz, and Elizondo are 30-40 minutes away, although getting to Elizondo means dealing with a bit of a slog over a mountain pass.

The house we stayed in, for four, was lovely, freshly renovated and very clean. There are two double bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with twin beds, and both have big wardrobes with plenty of room for clothes. The bathroom was immaculate, with a shower, a vanity unit with two large soft-close drawers, and a very powerful hairdryer. The kitchen-diner was well equipped, and the living room had a large, comfortable chaise lounge sofa. There’s Wi-Fi and a Smart TV, and the washing machine is tucked into a cupboard on the small entrance terrace, which was no problem. The whole house faces outdoors, bathroom included. There’s a long balcony with stools if you smoke, plus a clothesline. The windows are all well insulated against noise and cold. The house is on the village’s only road and there’s sometimes traffic, but it’s cool enough that keeping the windows shut means you can’t hear a thing. Nights are cool and quiet.
