The balcony view is breathtaking. It’s affordable and clean, the place is nice, and the staff are cheerful and helpful.

There are bars and restaurants nearby at different price points, so there’s a choice, and breakfast is served outside, which gives you a chance to change things up day to day. The room has a private balcony, handy for smokers, and they clean daily or when requested. The bathroom isn’t large and could use some finishing work, but it functions perfectly and had hot water all the time. Staff are discreet and professional, and take care of requests through a special phone number you can call from the room. The location is convenient, fairly close to the airport and also well placed for the route downtown.

The rooms aren’t fancy, but the hot shower and WiFi were reasonably reliable, which can be hard to find together in an Addis guest house. I stayed more than a week and plan to come back. The price was fair, the location right in central Addis was ideal, and the staff gave excellent, welcoming service.

If you’re after a lively area, this place fits: there’s good food just across the road, inexpensive spots to spend time, and a chance to meet locals and get the authentic African trip you may have come for. The staff are kind and respect your privacy. The place itself is quite decent. Someone looking for a quiet, high-class neighborhood should do their research first instead of posting blame. You’re in Africa for an experience, and comfort may not match the West; if it does, you might miss some of that authenticity. Relax and enjoy the moment.
