We only ended up here because a delayed flight made us miss our connection, and Ethiopian airlines gave us a voucher. The staff seemed nice and worked hard, but the hotel itself badly needs care. The first room was dusty, smelled stale, and had a moldy bathroom; it looked like it hadn’t been cleaned or used in weeks. They offered a larger room that at least looked clean. The WiFi barely worked, so we had no internet the whole time, and they blamed nearby construction. The so-called smart TV had just a few local channels, and the food wasn’t good. It may once have been grand, but it doesn’t feel that way now, and I don’t see how it qualifies as four stars.

We had a comfortable stay in a suite during a 10-hour layover, though the noise from the main road was a drawback. Ethiopian Airlines arranged the hotel, and a shuttle was available. Breakfast and lunch were included, with a good mix of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes and an omelette station. The room took a while to be ready; while we waited, we asked if we could have breakfast, and we were shown to our room at 8 a.m.

The hotel has an old-fashioned design and sits on a very busy city road. Road construction is still going on, though it should be finished soon.
