Crown Hotel

The coffee pot statue in the photos shows how coffee is prepared in its birthplace. They serve Ethiopian traditional coffee with the full meal and traditional plates made of woven fabric. It’s a good traditional night club, with traditional Ethiopian food.

The owner was very down to earth when I met her, and she and her coworkers were kind. The place has won multiple trophies and is known for traditional and modern food in Addis, even compared with Sheraton and Hilton. It’s about 10 minutes from the airport, in a peaceful spot away from the drama locations, and they offer transport around Addis. The energy and vibe made it feel like a getaway resort. LION OF JUDAH CONCRETE. Respect.

The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The reception was good too, and the visit left me with a pleasant, unforgettable memory.

I’d planned to stay for weeks because I thought this was a nice place, but on the first day I found it was out of everything, on site and in spirit. I went to look at rooms and saw a phone in each one. After lunch I came back planning to have dinner at the hotel with my pregnant wife, but there was no phone in our room. I went downstairs to the restaurant, where there were no customers, placed an order, and got the receipt and food. It felt like I’d come here just to donate blood to crazy mosquitoes and waste my money.
