Fountain hotel and spa

I’d rate it negative 5 out of 5. My husband and I went for a massage, and it was a horrible experience. We had booked ahead but still waited about 45 minutes, and the staff were very unprofessional. The massage was so strange that I heard one staff member say, “I dont want to do this”! They changed the bed sheet while I was standing in the massage room. The bath robe they gave me had used cotton swabs in the pocket, so it wasn’t clean. Please don’t go there. I can’t even put into words everything I experienced, but the service was completely bad. I’ll never go back.

The room was spacious, the bed comfortable, and the price affordable. The bakery staff and cleaners were kind, too. Still, I felt uneasy as a traveler and wouldn’t return, which is a shame because I used to enjoy staying here. I’ve been here three times, first about a year ago in June and then again in February. Salam at reception was wonderful and spoke perfect English, but she has left. The new staff struggle with English, so it was nearly impossible to communicate without the Amharic-speaking person I was with. The place has gone downhill since my last visit. There were only slippers for one person, and the night receptionist refused to give us another pair, though they had before. That receptionist was disrespectful, and when we raised several concerns, she said we couldn’t speak to a manager. She also kept my Ethiopian ID even though they had already copied it. I think they use it as some kind of deposit, but being without an ID or passport is uncomfortable when traveling. I’d prefer the choice of a cash or credit deposit, with an ID as an option for people who can’t or don’t want to make one. The security guard yelled at us repeatedly, followed us up the stairs whenever we went to reception or our room, and stared at us in a way that felt uncomfortable. The guard outside who helps with parking asked for money when we were only dropping off our luggage. In the room, the window-opening mechanism was broken, and the soap holders were almost detached and crooked.

The quality of the spa services has stayed consistent over the past years. Thanks to Mrs. Lomi at reception for being so professional. For a really skilled therapist, Mahlet, nicknamed Beti, is exceptional at her work 👏👏👏

Ferengi here. The restaurant and bakery on the ground floor are popular, and the food choices are delicious and very cheap. The hotel itself is nice, with kind, helpful staff. Room options vary: some newer ones have kitchens, some have balconies, and some come with mini fridges. There are shops on the 1st and 2nd floors. Internet, pictures, hair.
