Ms. Ganet is indispensable. Ask her about food, getting around, entertainment, or shopping. She feels like the aunt who travels everywhere and speaks Amharic and English, and who might arrange an anniversary cake or challenge how you see the world. Our suite had a bedroom, en suite bathroom, and living room with two couches. I don't know how large the whole place is, but that set a high bar for staying in Ethiopia. The owner is an artist, and the decor shows real attention to color and detail. I usually choose the luxury and comfort of big hotels and resorts, not guest houses, but this place surprised me. Our host arranged an airport pickup, with a driver holding a sign with our name, which helped in a busy airport full of unmarked taxi drivers. The road outside is unfinished because the government declared the street “eminent domain,” so expect a bumpy ride.

My guest really enjoyed the service and rooms at Kefetew Guest House. As a tour guide, I went to pick them up and searched for the location on Google Map. I got to the area, but even though I was very close, it took a while to find the exact place because there was NO SIGN.

They call it a guest house, but staying there felt like hell. The interior looked bad, and the service was slow. I waited 10 minutes just to get the juice I'd ordered 🤮🤮
