Mado Hotel

I booked this hotel because they confirmed an airport shuttle, but when it was time to leave, it never arrived. I was told the driver was “eating lunch,” which was an unacceptable excuse and showed poor planning. I had to urgently book a local Uber at my own expense, and I missed my flight. This isn’t the first problem I’ve had with the hotel, which made it even more frustrating. Promising a service and then failing to provide it, especially airport transportation, feels completely unprofessional. If you have a flight to catch, I strongly advise against relying on their shuttle. Reliability matters, and they let me down badly.

The staff made my stay at Mado Hotel feel personal from the first greeting. They treated me like family, anticipated what I needed with a smile, and created the kind of warmth that made the place feel like home. The chef deserves a special mention too: the food was delicious, and their friendly personality made meals in the restaurant a highlight. I felt safe, valued and completely at peace throughout my stay. Inside, it was quiet and comfortable even with the city humming outside, and I often lingered in the common areas to enjoy the calm. The elegant design and heartfelt service worked beautifully together. My room was spotless after long days exploring the local streets, and the spa floor offered a restful break for mind and body. From the soothing signature scent in the lobby to the care in every interaction, the hotel felt like a refined sanctuary amid the energy of Addis Ababa. I left with a heavy heart, feeling like I was saying goodbye to a second home. I came away refreshed with memories I’ll cherish, and a sense of having experienced Ethiopian hospitality at its best.

At the Mado Hotel spa, I had a Moroccan bath treatment that left my skin badly irritated and wounded, especially my feet. The staff used a towel that was much too abrasive and inappropriate for the treatment. They didn’t seem properly trained or professional. I strongly recommend avoiding this spa to prevent skin damage and physical harm.

The rooms were clean, and the housekeeping staff were amazing. Everyone was courteous, professional and accommodating. I enjoyed the spa and Morocco experience, and can’t wait to return. Thank you, Mado hotel, for the memories. Natty.
