The Mosaic Hotel

I like stopping by The Mosaic Hotel for morning coffee, and I’ll keep coming back. We watched the World Cup final there, which was fabulous. The outdoor area works well for all kinds of events, and there’s plenty of parking, something rare in Addis. The service was on point too.

I’ve been running public seminars and trainings in different formats at the Mosaic Hotel for about 10 months, three times a week. The open green space is refreshing, especially compared with the usual crowded urban places. It’s in the heart of Bole, but the buildings in front filter out the surrounding noise before it reaches the hotel, so it feels calm and home-like. The receptionists and other workers are remarkably friendly and make you feel safe. It’s been an excellent experience being served here. Regards.

We needed reliable internet because some participants were joining virtually, and the WiFi stayed stable for that. The staff were friendly and helpful, and even with very little notice from us they provided a projector and flip chart. A great conference facility.

The location is perfect, but the hotel fell well below what I expected for ETB 4900. We first rented a standard room, and it was obviously messy and dirty as soon as we walked in. We asked downstairs for a refund, but their policy was no refunds after payment. They showed us other rooms, and they were all in the same condition, tiny and dirty, like rooms you could rent for less than ETB 1000. Eventually they offered a deluxe room. It was bigger, but still dirty, the bathroom leaked, and all the sockets were connected to the light, so they stopped working when the light was off. With no refund, we had no choice but to stay the night. The included breakfast was another disappointment. They were supposed to have a buffet, but instead made us order from their menu. The food tasted burnt and wasn’t tasty, so I couldn’t eat it and left it. Check the rooms before paying. I can guarantee you won’t pay ETB 4900 for what you see.
