Washington Hotel

The staff were remarkably friendly and patient, considering the state of the place. Still, I strongly recommend against staying here. I arrived for an overnight layover after a long day of flying and expected a comfortable lobby. Instead, music was blaring so loudly that I could barely hear the receptionist. The room was underwhelming and smelled strongly of cigarettes. In the awkward bathroom, the toilet was practically glued to the sink. The shower leaked across the floor and had no hot water. Getting any sleep was the hardest part. The room had little to no insulation, so my one night was extremely disappointing at this very mediocre hotel.

During my stopover, I found the hotel room dirty, with bed bugs. I couldn’t sleep in the bed, and loud music from across the street made things worse. I ended up spending the night in a chair. The restroom was also unclean and smelled unpleasant. This was the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had, and I urge Ethiopian Airlines to reconsider sending clients here. The conditions I experienced were unacceptable. Guests deserve somewhere clean, comfortable, and peaceful, and I got none of that. I hope management acts quickly to fix these problems so future guests don’t face the same situation. Thank you for considering my feedback.

I was there for a month and mostly went out during the day, coming back just to sleep. The regular housekeeper was great, cleaned thoroughly, and listened when I asked for things to be fixed. The front desk was available and answered my questions. My time there was okay overall, but I wouldn’t recommend it for a long stay. It seems like a lot of people use it for transit. The constant construction went on all month, even when I was trying to sleep. The food wasn’t good. Breakfast was included, but I only tried it twice, and both times it made me sick. It wasn’t vegan-friendly either. Laundry ruined my clothes twice. Who washes whites with colors? Then at checkout, after I’d paid for December, they said months in Ethiopia are only 30 days and demanded payment for the extra day because December has 31. They also tried to charge me for room service I never used. Huge scammers.

The staff were friendly, and the hotel’s airport-to-hotel-to-airport shuttle was good. I’d recommend the place for a short stay. Internet in the rooms was awful, and new sheets and towels would make a big difference. The ones I saw seemed ten years old. I booked and paid online for a Junior executive room, but after checking in I found myself in a standard room instead. The hotel website bookings don’t seem to be monitored or handled properly. After discussing it with a staff member, I understood the downgrade had been deliberate and showed a lack of seriousness.
