Zigzag Hotel and Spa

I’ve been staying at The Zig Zag Hotel for almost a month, and the customer service keeps falling short. I’ve raised my concerns with management, but nothing has improved. If anything, the service seems worse. Ordering in person can mean a 45-minute wait, and sometimes the food never comes unless I call repeatedly. Calls often get a busy signal. Breakfast has to be ordered an hour ahead, and even then the meal may be unsatisfactory. The restaurant once suggested I get tea bags from housekeeping. Delivered food also comes without utensils, or they give you a teaspoon and saucer to use as a plate. There are other daily problems, too. The washroom and shower smell unpleasant, and the water flow keeps getting interrupted. I chose the hotel because it was convenient for local friends and family, but the stay has turned into a struggle. Even as long-stay guests, we sometimes have sleepless nights when a group of intoxicated people rents the penthouse next door and plays loud music. The hotel also seems rather empty. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

We both really enjoyed our couples Swedish massage and would highly recommend the spa. The lighting and atmosphere were just right, and the music was at a perfect level.

After using the spa, we had lunch, which was just great. The place was very clean and the staff were so hospitable. They even served the two of us a complimentary glass of wine, with no idea I’d be writing a review.

I’ve found my new favorite hotel in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. I travel to Ethiopia often and used to stay somewhere different each time, until a family member, Fikir A, who used to work at Zig Zag Hotel and Spa, recommended it to me at the end of January 2022. I really loved my stay. The room was spacious and comfortable, and I tried both breakfast and dinner. The food was the best. What really sets the hotel apart for me is the customer service. Customer service is often disappointing for me when I visit places in Ethiopia, but everyone here was amazing throughout the hotel. The security guards were friendly and helpful, the reception staff were welcoming and efficient, and the housekeepers did a great job cleaning and decorating the rooms. It’s the greatest hotel I’ve ever seen, and I really enjoyed staying there. Thanks, Zig Zag Hotel and Spa, for the excellent service. Keep up the good work and set an example for others.
