Getting around was easy because the hostel is in a handy spot. The room, though, felt much more basic and lower quality than the listing suggested, and the cleanliness could be better. One blackout curtain was missing, so in June the room stayed bright through the night and we struggled to sleep. We only spotted it after dark, so check the listed amenities before booking. Check-in isn't until 4:00 p.m., yet the cleaning staff knocked right at 11:00 a.m. They apparently need all five hours to finish cleaning. 😉

That basement laundry room was a big help for my weeklong stay, especially since the machines were free to use. My room was clean, warm, and comfortable, with a roomy desk for working and a good-sized bathroom. They only provided one set of towels, so I had to wash them, though you can ask the service team for more. I came from Japan and stayed at Forenom Aparthotel Helsinki Kamppi for a week. It's right in the city centre, convenient for sightseeing and work, with a K-Market just steps away for groceries and everyday supplies. I felt completely safe walking nearby. It was a pleasant, comfortable stay, and I'd happily come back to Helsinki.

The location was good, and I could reach customer service when I called. Beyond that, it was disappointing. Dirty-sheet carts sat in the hallway, and the stained sheets felt unhygienic and left our bodies itchy. There was dust, especially on the floor by the beds. The bidet leaked and made the bathroom messy each time we went in. You could hear other guests talking and walking in the hall because the doors weren't insulated. The same code opened the main entrance and our room, which made me question privacy and safety. Not sure I'd stay again. 🙃

For under 75€ a night, it's good value, with free access to the washing machines and luggage room. The downside is there's no staff on site, and unless you booked directly through the hotel website, you need a phone that can make local calls to get the entry codes. Cleanliness wasn't quite perfect either.

There's no front desk, although Agoda.com and Booking.com say there is. You have to wait for an emailed door code or call their mobile, which is hard for tourists. I hope they sort this out, or at least add a WhatsApp number. Luckily, I got a WhatsApp number through Agoda.com and sent a message. They only managed to send my check-in details after I called them on WhatsApp.
