Hobo Helsinki

The location and pet-friendly policy were why we chose Hobo, and the style was a big plus. Our room was large, comfortable, and spacious, though I can't speak for the other room types. Our dog liked the bowls, towels, and food provided. Breakfast and the gym were great, and the food was tasty. The restaurant gentleman from Chicago, whose name I can't remember, was incredibly kind and friendly. Those thoughtful touches for our dog, his service, and the chef's food helped me decide on four stars instead of the three I first had in mind. I'd probably stay again. We were cold in the room, and without hooks the towels wouldn't dry properly. There were no slippers or toiletries, which felt unusual. A kettle, mugs, and maybe teabags would've been nice. We're used to having a coffee machine, though maybe that's asking too much 😄. The welcome at the front desk felt very cold. Maybe it's because we're Mediterranean and more expressive, but hospitality is universal. A smile and a simple welcome go a long way, and we shouldn't have to say hello first. I don't know the name of the man in a beanie, but he was kinder and a little more welcoming. The women at the desk barely looked at us. No one offered to help with our several bags. Instead, we felt uncomfortable when asked how long we'd leave them behind the counter, even though there was plenty of space. The downstairs storage area was very inconvenient for us, since it was -15°C outside and we had to re-park right after unloading. We'd just driven 500km and were tired. When we returned no more than 15 minutes later, we were told, “Your bags are still here.” Sorry, we couldn't just leave the car in the middle of the street. The staff overall came across as reserved and cold. I've visited Helsinki and Finland many times and never experienced this before. I hope this honest, kind review helps. The floor in my room was quite dusty and could use better cleaning. Otherwise, everything was fine and I had a good stay at Hobo Hotel Helsinki. It's comfortable and right in the city center, making it easy to get around. I would consider staying again.

I used to visit the old hotel Glo, and wow, you'd never recognize the place now! It's modern and fun but still cozy and comfortable. I love the new look, and the staff are still friendly and professional. I'd definitely recommend it and come back.

For anyone wanting to stay centrally and see as much as possible on foot, I'd definitely recommend this place. We had a very good two-night stay, and it felt well worth the money. The location is the biggest draw, with staff, cleanliness, and facilities all top notch. Our room was spacious and the bathroom clean and tidy. They gave us very cute bathroom slippers, which we ended up using for our whole trip, even after leaving Helsinki. Go for it, you won't be disappointed!
