Noli Malmi

I arrived before the listed check-in time and was still able to get into my room early. They can store your luggage if the room isn’t ready yet, though I didn’t need that. The room had everything you’d want in an apartment for a longer visit, even though I only needed a bed and bathroom for my one-night stay. Noli Malmi was much cheaper than the airport hotel and just a short walk from the train station. The 5 a.m. train from Malmi took about 15 minutes to reach the airport. I’d absolutely stay here again next time I’m in Helsinki.

The studio was comfortable for two and had plenty of drawers for storage. The kitchen was fully equipped with a stove, microwave and dishwasher, and you can borrow an iron and use a dryer from a cabinet. There’s also a small gym, sauna and laundry service, so it seems well suited to a longer stay, especially if you want to cook. It’s pet-friendly, and I noticed that long-term rentals are available. There’s a small mall with grocery stores, but not much else nearby. The train station is right beside the hotel, which makes this location convenient for the airport. For the city center, expect about a 25-minute commuter train ride to the main station, so it is a bit far.

Update, 11/11/2025: Another bicycle has been stolen from the same parking area since my last review. After all the reports and promises of improvement, the theft has happened again. Management previously said everything had been checked and was working properly, but the underlying security problem clearly hasn’t been fixed. Residents need action, not just polite replies. Cameras, proper gate access control and monitoring are basic expectations for a property like this. It’s frustrating that thefts keep happening at a place that presents itself as a secure, modern home. Until Noli puts real safety measures in place, I’d warn people to be very cautious about using the parking hall. September 2025: The rooms at Noli Studios are perfect, but I was extremely disappointed by the safety situation. My friend’s bicycle was stolen from the parking hall twice. We repeatedly told management about serious problems with the gate and broken protective structure, but nothing was done. Instead, they were only advised to file a police report, which does nothing to make residents safer. It’s unacceptable that a well-known company ignores basic security and lets residents’ belongings get stolen so easily. I used to recommend Noli to everyone, but now I never would. I’ve completely lost trust in their ability to provide a safe place to live. If security and peace of mind matter to you, I can’t recommend Noli Studios.

There’s no TV in the room and no staff in the evenings, but for a budget hotel I didn’t really need either. The free sauna is heated every day, or at least it seemed to be, and the services and common spaces are great. The room itself is excellent for the price. The train station is right next door, so the city center is about 20 minutes away. I actually prefer staying in Malmi to being in the center. This may be the best value for money of any hotel I’ve stayed in. We’d book again if we need a place in Helsinki.
