Original Sokos Hotel Alexandra

The rooms have everything I need for business travel, and the food is quite nice too. Very nice hotel in Jyvaskyla, with great service, a sauna, and a gym.

The breakfast was great, and the rooms were clean and modern. Hotels in Finland are expensive these days, and parking at the hotel is limited, so we left the car at the Sokos parking garage about two blocks away.

It was my first time staying with this hotel group, after not visiting Finland for a long time. On 1.07 the receptionist said they were fully booked, then showed me an economy room for 175€. It was quite far to go, but they tried to recommend a standard room for 225€ instead. 225€! When you're tired from travelling, you don't feel like going to look somewhere else. The disappointment came afterwards: the room was dirty, the robe was torn with a hole, and the pillows didn't match. Next time I'll choose a simple mid-range hotel and support a small business instead of capital. 😐✋💔

The breakfast and customer service were splendid, and the sauna itself was good. The changing room in the sauna area was very cramped, though, and there was black mold between the tiles. The so-called king bed was just two twin beds pushed together, which obviously isn't a real king. Otherwise, pretty good, about what you'd expect from any Sokos.
