Scandic Laajavuori

The calm spa was such a nice part of our stay. The pools were pleasantly warm, and the saunas felt relaxing with lovely music and atmosphere. Our room was spotless and stylish, with an amazing balcony view 😍🏞️. Breakfast was SO tasty, especially the fresh fruit and dessert choices. Everyone on staff was welcoming and friendly 💛

There was plenty of choice at breakfast, from hot sausage, bacon and eggs to sweet and savoury options, fruit, and drinks. We also tried the Rally Buffet one night and the a la carte menu another. The bar had lots of seating, a few draught beers at reasonable prices for Finland, plus snacks, chocolates, and other drinks. Aura was the cheapest draught beer. We were there for the WRC in Jyvaskla in July and August 2025. It’s a surprisingly big hotel, and check-in was quick with very polite staff. Our room was 364, looking out over the hotel roof. The decor felt a little dated, and although it was warm, there wasn’t really any air conditioning. We heard some rooms were getting it installed later in August. We mostly spent our time in the bar anyway. We saw the sauna, ironing room, table tennis, and kids soft place area, but didn’t use them. Electric scooters can be rented outside and are a quick way to get into Jyvaskla.

The renovated rooms were really nice, but the spa could use an update. The sauna and washing area seem dated, and the kids pool is very old. Still, we had a good visit overall.

The spa worked well for our kid, and the amenities were okay. The staff were friendly, too. But on our summer visit, the room was unbearably hot. There was no AC, and the bathroom floor heating was on. We were seriously wondering if we should sleep in the car.
