Scandic Lahti City

Breakfast was a real highlight, with tasty choices, good variety, and everything well organized. The staff there were exceptionally polite and accommodating. Parking was convenient in a warm underground garage for €18 a day, and being able to walk straight into the department store from the hotel without going outside was a nice bonus. Scandic Lahti City has had a major renovation recently, and the hotel feels clean, modern, and fresh. The sauna area, though, doesn’t feel very inviting. It’s more like a large sports hall changing room than a relaxing hotel spa, and it’s separated from the hotel. To get there you have to go partly through the shopping center, along cold, echoing corridors. There aren’t any proper relaxation areas or cozy lounges apart from the main lobby, so the wellness side feels incomplete. We were generally satisfied with our stay. The hotel has a good location and a pleasant, newly renovated feel, but the sauna facilities could be more comfortable to fit the rest of the hotel.

The hotel and service were good otherwise, and staff helped me find a relatively quiet room. But there’s almost no sound insulation. You can hear every movement in the neighboring rooms. A door opening, or even someone touching the adjoining wall, is startling. If noise doesn’t bother you, it might be fine, but for me it was a deal breaker.

The shopping mall right next door makes this central spot really convenient, and there’s a big parking lot too. The hotel was very clean, with a good shower and an excellent breakfast. A very nice place to stay.

Our family of four had a modern, spacious room, and the staff were friendly. Breakfast had a decent choice. The hotel is a short walk from the city centre, with plenty of spaces in its underground car park. You can pay at reception or through an app.
