We only popped in to rent snowshoes and have hot chocolate, not to stay overnight, but everyone was really helpful and friendly. The hotel has a lovely rustic feel, and the view is gorgeous.

We loved the breakfast, especially the local flavours, and saw the aurora dancing right in front of the hotel. The old-world charm and cleanliness were nice, though the beds could be better. The sauna was good, but we weren’t keen on having separate men’s and women’s saunas. After 11pm the front door was locked, so when we came back late we had to call the night receptionist to let us in. It worked, but getting a front-door key with the room key would have saved the extra hassle.

The food is excellent, with plenty to choose from, and they really know how to cook the local fish. The salmon soup was among the best I’ve had, and the serving was huge. There are lots of trails right outside, and the staff have great tips for exploring them. Always lovely service at this historic place, with beautiful interiors and scenery that’s hard to beat.
