Arctic Giant

Breakfast brought right to our room was a real highlight, both delicious and lovely to look at, and it made for a slow, easy morning. We also had a great time exploring the forests and scenery around the Arctic Giant Hotel. From arrival, the staff were welcoming, professional and genuinely friendly. They shared ideas for places to see and things to do in the region. We had a peaceful stay and would happily recommend the hotel to anyone looking for a quiet break in Finland.

We loved the quiet scenery, and there was plenty to do outdoors, from snowshoeing or taking a snowmobile out to simply walking around. The staff were really kind and available. It's a bit expensive, but I think it's worth it.

The hiking trails were lovely, and the views from this place are amazing.

We took electric bikes into the forest and spent a couple of blissful hours out in nature. When we hit a hill, a flick of the switch gave the bike the boost to climb it. Later we headed to the forest sauna, had a beer, then stepped under the coldest shower I've ever had. That definitely woke me up. Our birdhouse was perfectly placed for the view. We sat by its big window with cold beers for hours, looking out over the lakes and forest. The location is breathtaking in scale, but also feels calming. When you leave the main road and drive up the track, you really don't expect to find somewhere like Arctic Giant. The food and hospitality were first class. I especially remember the moose stew cooked in foil over an open fire and the berry wines. The strawberry dessert wine still comes to mind. It's so worth making the trip out there, and gives you plenty in return.
