Hotel Raahen Hovi

The room itself was generally clean, but during my stay of over a week it went uncleaned and the towels weren't replaced for two days in a row. The curtain fell down, and my colleague had the same problem. I also felt cold on a few nights because the heating didn't seem to be on, and the toilet smelled a bit. I'm not sure the extractor was doing enough. My room was in a separate building across the road from the main hotel, which made it less convenient to use the sauna or go for breakfast. Breakfast didn't offer many hot choices. The meatballs were dry, and there were hot dog style sausages and scrambled eggs that seemed like they might have been powdered. It was my first time in Finland, so I don't know if that's typical. I was there on a business trip. The hotel is very basic, though looking at the alternatives, it seems to be one of the better options in the area. There's free parking beside it, some good restaurants nearby, a large supermarket and a Lidl.

The shower could feel too small for some people. The floors are all hard, with no carpets, so noise carries more, though that may suit people concerned about allergies or hygiene. It does the job well enough, and I'd recommend it for a professional stay. Breakfast is a good full buffet.

The breakfast was the same every day, and I didn't like it. The bathroom ventilation didn't work at all, even after I changed rooms, and the internet was poor. I stayed for two weeks and won't come back. Be careful with the laundry service. My colleagues and I only washed three bags of clothes, and it cost us 300 euros. Nobody told us it would be that expensive. The service wasn't worth it either: they broke the zip on my jacket and left black marks on my T-shirt.

My company booked me in for three nights, and the stay was horrible, the worst three nights of my life. After working 12-hour shifts, I was trying to rest in a bed just 80 cm wide. I travel for work and sleep in hotels around the world, and I've never had a room with a bed that narrow. I slept fewer than 10 hours total over the three days.
