The photos really don’t show how stunning the place is. It was spotless, warm, set up perfectly, and arriving was easy. We had a great time on the sledges provided, and the sauna was excellent after being out in the cold. I couldn’t have asked for more. You’ll need a vehicle, but being away from busy Rovaniemi is part of the appeal. We saw the northern lights and a wild reindeer on the drive into town. Idyllic spot. Perfect, I’d recommend it and stay again tomorrow.

It was a really comfortable stay, and getting there from Rovaniemi was easy. There are plenty of nearby trails, and we saw lots of northern lights. The sauna was lovely, warmed up fast, and had soft but strong löyly. One thing could be better: some outdoor lights only turn off with a timer and movement sensor, so we couldn’t switch them off by hand to improve the view of the lights. We had to walk about 100meter to watch from the frozen lake. Even so, we had a great stay.

We were surrounded by nature beside a lake, about 30 minutes outside Rovaniemi, in a unique and idyllic location. The house had everything we needed. We were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights several times, and Ari even sent us alerts about them twice through booking.com. Beforehand, he’d also shared helpful tips and recommendations.

There’s plenty to see and do, but I loved the quieter moments too: chatting by the warm tiled stove and looking out at the Arctic Circle’s winter wonderland. The owner was very friendly and attentive, which added to a truly relaxing stay. It’s a special place where it’s easy to leave everyday pressures behind.

A reindeer swam over from the opposite shore and ended up on Mustikkakampu, so it must be a pretty good place 😊
