Scandic Rovaniemi City

The beds were very comfortable, and the housekeeping staff were friendly. The location is great, and reception was okay. The bathrooms felt like the smallest I've seen in a Scandic. Breakfast was fine, but I missed fish like salmon, which is so typical of Scandinavian buffets. We appreciated having an iron in the room, since that's unusual in a three-star hotel. But there were a kettle, cups, and glasses with no tea or coffee. We ended up taking tea bags from the breakfast buffet. Why have a kettle if you don't provide anything to use with it? Complimentary water would have been nice too. We were in Rovaniemi two years ago and know that hotels at a similar price can include tea, coffee, and water in the room. The hotel is okay, but it feels like management hasn't checked what competitors offer.

I left very disappointed with the service. During our stay, staff handled our requests and concerns with little care, and their attitude didn't feel professional or empathetic. We were also charged extra for basic things like coffee and use of a kettle. Given what we'd already paid for the room, I think those are reasonable amenities to expect. The extra charges made us feel nickel-and-dimed, and the lack of basics left us frustrated instead of able to enjoy our stay. This experience gave me a very negative impression. Management should address it, explain how it will be resolved, and say what will change so other guests don't face the same inconvenience. I expect a prompt response.

The breakfast buffet was a real highlight, with lots of delicious choices. I especially liked the homemade chia pudding and the meatball selection. My wife and I stayed for three nights as part of a longer trip to Rovaniemi. Our room was spacious and comfortable, and every staff member we met was wonderfully friendly and helpful, the kind of service I'd expect at a five-star hotel.

The location is great, and the receptionist was helpful. Beyond that, I was disappointed. For around 300euro, my room had nothing in it. We even had to rent a kettle just to boil water, rent it rather than borrow it. And my room looked out onto the breakfast restaurant.
