Scandic Postitalo

The location is excellent, very close to the train station and city center. The staff were friendly, and the hotel was neat and clean. I can forgive a lot since Scandic had only just started, and I’m sure it’ll improve. Overall, I’d come again. Breakfast was good, but the area was cramped when busy. We had to wait for toast while people queued for drinks in the same tight space. Dinner at the restaurant took two hours, so allow plenty of time. Another elevator was out of order, and people were using the stairs. Our room was 18.4c, which felt a bit cold, though sleeping under the covers was warm enough. A bright white security light flashed on at night and stayed lit for a long time, disturbing our sleep. When we arrived, I noticed a 3kW fan heater set to 3kW at reception, plugged into a 0.75mm2 extension cord. I told the receptionist I thought it was a fire safety risk and didn’t look professionally installed. They promised to fix it but did nothing.

The location was the only real plus. This was a bland, odorless, nothing-special cheap hotel, and the parking garage was terribly cramped and expensive. The rooms looked renovated at first glance, but there was stubborn dirt on the shower wall in the bathroom. Breakfast was basic, with no local flavor or extras. Customer service felt disgusted and was hard to reach. I ended up having to greet every representative first. I’d choose this place only if I just needed a bed for the night, perhaps during festivals.

The hotel is in a good location, and breakfast was delicious. We were four girls sharing a room booked for 4 hours, which was nice because we could all be together. Sleeping was another matter: two adults on the sofa bed were cramped, and the mattress was too hard. A 4-hour room is challenging for adults. It probably would’ve worked better as 2+2, but this stay didn’t leave a good impression.

The room was clean, and I was happy to get one next to the elevator without asking. The hotel is basic, the service professional, and the price was okay. The chia pudding at breakfast was super good and saved the meal for me, since breakfast was full at 10 am and the tables hadn’t been cleaned. There was something unpleasant at the bottom of the shower wall, and the downstairs common areas were super cold. The bar service was surprisingly poor too: they were selling a drink labeled non-alcoholic that contained alcohol.
