The place was quiet, which was a big plus, and the building itself was interesting. The beds were too narrow and small, as other guests have mentioned. Getting in and out by car was a hassle because rain had left huge potholes in the badly damaged gravel parking area. A quick maintenance visit could have fixed that. We didn't see a grocery store conveniently nearby, but that wasn't a major problem. The bathroom door handle had no screws and sometimes came loose, another small maintenance job. One window wouldn't open, and the one that did was too close to the TV to be convenient. Still, we had a good stay and I'd recommend the place. I'd also suggest visiting the nearby museum to learn about the prison and surrounding area. Thank you.

The place was really peaceful. Although the parking lot was full, we never heard the other guests. It was well equipped, with what you need to make breakfast or wash clothes. The surroundings were lovely too. There were sticky stains on the floor, and the armchair was dirty.

A good spot with easy parking and a convenient location. The room was clean and quiet, and the historic prison setting gives the place a unique feel.

The historic building has been fully renovated as an apartment hotel, and the apartments are well equipped. There was plenty of closet space and the facilities felt like home. I could have stayed longer than a day. Parking is free with the permit in the room, though there might not be enough spots for everyone. Kakolanmäki services nearby include a spa, bakery and brewery.

It's a magnificent historic building, with modern apartments that have kitchens. It works for one night or a stay of several weeks. The funicular is a short walk away, and from there you can get to the banks of the Aura River. Free parking, too.
