Hiisi Hotel Turku Seaport

The couple of microwaves and a kettle in the “kitchen” came in handy. In a city where accommodation is routinely expensive, Hiisi Hotel Turku Seaport is a relief price-wise. It can offer those rates because there’s no staff besides housekeeping, and housekeeping doesn’t service your room during your stay.

Clean, functional, spacious rooms, and no fuss getting in or out. For the ridiculously low price, I heartily recommend this no-contact hotel if you have a morning ferry to catch. Nothing fancy, but it has everything you need for a pit stop.

The room was big, with a tiny fridge and a shower in the toilet. There was no car noise at night, just a little diesel sound in the distance. At 66€/night, it was a good deal for waiting for a morning ferry. Breakfast isn’t included, and the ferry terminal is 20 meters between buildings. Check-in was a mess. The instructions said to use a pin code at the entrance, collect a room key, then return it, but the number they sent me wasn’t labelled as a pin code and had a different name. I also got an email from a booking service with a pin code that wasn’t for the entrance, so my attempts to get in failed. Luckily someone opened the entrance to go out. After that I could start check-in through an employee and a personal call to the “reception” phone number. The check-out recommendations arrived after I’d already checked out, and I had a morning ferry. The bed is about 195cm, so at 210cm I’d have preferred it longer, otherwise my feet were at the edge. There’s no assshower in the toilet, and using the common shower instead is a little tricky.

Handy place to crash if you have a ferry the next morning, but cleanliness was lacking. The bathroom stank, and we had to clean it ourselves.
