Ocean Heart Hotel

The room was clean and spacious, with a huge bed, and having a kitchen meant we could make breakfast. Other guests were cooking dinner there too. I had a very nice stay, with no sign of bedbugs, mice, or cat pee. There was a cat, maybe it’s learned to pee outside now? It’s a short, flat walk to the main road, where there’s a group of restaurants and a small supermarket. The airport bus will drop you at the turnoff.

The owner seemed kind and helpful, and my partner and I agree that was a positive. Still, I strongly advise against staying here. I booked because the reviews were glowing, but our visit was a nightmare, and we weren’t offered a refund. At first the room looked somewhat clean, but our bed was infested with bedbugs. We also found ants, two flies, and a beetle. After we reported it, they offered another room at 2 a.m. That one smelled strongly of cat pee, and its mattress was still damp. It was disgusting, and I couldn’t sleep all night. The next morning I stepped outside and straight into cat pee. A cat was waiting by the door, ready to come in. I’m still shaken by what happened. I feel bad for the owner, who seemed like a kind person, but I can’t recommend this place to anyone. Please avoid it and spare yourself the ordeal we went through.

Every evening we went for peaceful sunset walks along the seaside boardwalk, which was so relaxing. We also took a shark diving tour for one day and saw lots of sharks, especially bull sharks. The dive shop was an hour and a half away. Back at the stay, the owner was friendly and helpful, and the room was clean with no bugs. The disposable toilet seat covers were a thoughtful touch, and the blanket was super comfortable, not just the bedsheet. Wi-Fi was fast, and there’s a nearby petrol station where you can easily get food and drinks. One little tip, keep your door shut when you go out, since a curious cat might sneak into your room 😄
