The staff were the highlight, especially Sally, who looked after us like a warm, caring aunt. Club Wyndham Denarau felt like a home away from home, and I left more relaxed than after any other holiday. We travelled in the wet season, but it didn't get in the way. The rain was usually brief, and staff handled things quickly and smoothly. There was always good entertainment, and the atmosphere felt welcoming and easygoing. It's a place where you can have a quiet break as a couple or bring the whole family and still have plenty to do. I'd happily return.
The kids were already asking to come back by our third day, which says a lot about how welcome the staff made us feel. We stayed in a sleek, modern three-bedroom ground-floor apartment, conveniently close to the resort facilities, and had a festive holiday we’ll remember for a long time. Christmas was especially lovely for the children: Santa arrived, there were Cookies & Milk on Christmas Eve, and stockings appeared on our door. The local church choir singing carols was another highlight, so soulful. It was moving to see Wyndham support the local orphanage, too. The children enjoyed activities and Christmas lunch at the resort. There was plenty of entertainment, from the skillful Fire & Dance show to the NYE Meke Dance and the spectacular NYE Fireworks. We also enjoyed visiting Liga for his art and carvings, and the ladies selling jewellery in the bure near reception. It felt good to know souvenir purchases there support local villages. The warmth of the team made us feel like family. Between that, the culture and the comfortable stay, Club Wyndham Denarau Island was a special place for our family. Vinaka vakalevu to everyone.
The staff made the trip for us, especially Ilai, the activities coordinator. He put in 110% every day and made each guest feel special. Baby Diego especially loved him, and we made lots of new friends during our stay. Service, cleanliness and friendliness were all five-star. We had such a great time and hope to visit this lovely resort again soon, with a chance to see our new friends there.
The staff were amazing, and it was a wonderful first stay. Our apartment was spacious, though the furniture could use an update and the place could do with a fresh coat of paint. For the trip from Nadi airport, compare taxi options carefully. The company the resort recommended charged us far too much. It’s also worth shopping around at the Village markets at the Sheraton hotel, which are good and worth visiting.
My two daughters-in-law became ill and had to go to hospital. The hygiene was zero. On the 31st, I asked for a coconut to be cut in half. The man cut it, bits of shell fell inside, then he just blew on it and handed it over. Now I understand why so many people get sick from the food here. There were empty hand-sanitizer stations, too. We rented three jet skis and walked 20 minutes to the launch point, only to be told the camera wasn’t available. After we complained, they brought one 45 minutes later. We returned the equipment to my room after an hour and a half, and they said a flipper was torn. How could they miss that when we returned it, then decide an hour and a half later that it was ours? At Mamacita restaurant, my Caesar salad took an hour and a half to arrive, and it was added to my bill. We also paid full price for a trip, but were pressured into a presentation with a promised voucher. After the long presentation, they said there was no time left because the people were already onboard. It rained and thundered for the next six days, and we missed New Year in Fiji at Wyndham. I don’t recommend buying anything from the presentation. They use an emotional moment to sell ownership, and the price increases a lot, so calculate it carefully. They told stories about family members dying to get at your emotions and break your heart. It felt ridiculous and unprofessional, and customers seemed to come after money. We only got a cold apology. The company needs to change its attitude if it wants to stay in the market. The manager, Inoke, laughed at my frustration, as if he didn’t care about me. Kyo, the salesman in my group, had seemed adorable, but when I said I needed to go on the trip, he laughed ironically instead of letting me go. He showed a bitter side.
