We spent five nights in the treetop bures and loved our stay. The views from the Iguana Bar and around it were incredible, perfect for sunset photos. Dinner there cost around $45-65FJD pp, and Casper the friendly dog resting beside us was a highlight. Huge thanks to the resort staff and village people for sharing Nanuya Island’s beautiful culture and such kind hospitality. We hope to return! The Nanuya family always greeted us with warm smiles. Everyone was welcoming and helped us through every situation. Special shoutout to Sali for serving our table and giving us fist bumps :) We paid for activities including fish feeding, snorkeling, a cave trip, and handline fishing. My partner and I got lucky and caught two fish on our first try. The guides were highly experienced and focused on keeping things comfortable and fun, so we’d recommend trying all the activities. Fish feeding was our favorite: the tropical fish are beautiful, and you get to snorkel right beside them.

We went on a snorkeling tour, and the hotel arranged for two staff members to take us around privately for a very reasonable price. Even in just two nights, we made friends. The staff were so warm and helpful, and I’ve never had a hotel experience quite like this. We’ll definitely try to return. Special thanks to Masi and Pete, such lovely people!

This is a small, cozy place with a much more personal feel, and we loved the demonstrations and how friendly the other guests were. The food was delicious and consistent, the staff incredibly warm and helpful, and the activities were excellent. We especially liked the cave visit. We went on two guided snorkeling trips, and my husband saw a Manta around the Blue Lagoon area. There’s also a nice snorkeling spot at the local beach within walking distance. We stayed in a treetop bure. It was clean, the shower was great, and the balcony had a lovely view. The climb up and down felt daunting at first, especially since I’m 72, but I got used to it, wore my sneakers just for the climb, and got lots of good exercise. I love this place. It’s not for someone expecting top-end luxury, but if you want something authentic and soulful, this is your place.

The food was average at best, and lunch and dinner options were pretty limited. At lunch I got three tiny pieces of fish and chips. I asked for a little more, but the staff said no. In the evenings, the bar and restaurant shut at 9pm, making the resort feel dull. There were too many unnecessary rules, and the whole atmosphere felt restrictive and boring. I also didn’t feel comfortable during my stay. The staff seemed less welcoming and friendly than on the other Fiji islands I visited. The worst part was someone taking $15 AUD from my wallet and tobacco from my friend’s things in the dorms. Staff didn’t take responsibility or follow up, which was really disappointing. I wouldn’t recommend staying here when Fiji has so many better choices for service, food, and atmosphere.

It’s a far trip, but worth making. I had a great time and highly recommend visiting this amazing island. The local tribes speak English with a heavy British accent.
