Maqai Beach Eco Resort

We went in March and had such a magical stay. The staff welcomed us warmly and took us out fishing, surfing, snorkeling, and exploring the islands. Cathy was so helpful with every request. Between the peaceful hammocks, great drinks and food, and comfortable lodging, it was a lovely visit. We’ll definitely be back.

The food was incredible, and we had the best time surfing and relaxing. The team were so welcoming and lovely, they made us feel like part of a family. Paradise. I can’t recommend this resort enough.

The food Lucy cooked was amazing, with delicious Fijian flavors and fresh local ingredients. We felt at home the whole time, thanks to the staff’s genuine, heartfelt care and the way they made us feel part of the Maqai family. The surf sessions were a highlight. ULI, our surf guide, and the boat drivers were skilled, patient, and knowledgeable. They got us to some of the best spots at the right times and tides, and their love of surfing and the ocean made each session memorable. Being able to see the spots from camp was a huge benefit. The people and culture of Fiji made the stay unforgettable from the moment we arrived. Maqai Eco Surf Resort felt like paradise, both for surfing and for an authentic Fijian experience. We can’t wait to return.

A year later, we still talk about Maqai and hope to get back soon. Jale and James were two of the kindest people we’ve ever met, and they made the stay magical. They’re in family photos on our wall, halfway across the world, and part of our hearts will always be in Fiji. Aquaman is on the wall too, in a wonderful photo teaching our then 7-year-old to surf for the first time. The kids made core memories there. Playing volleyball with the staff each afternoon was a simple highlight we all looked forward to and miss. Mama Lucys cooking was incredible, and we loved seeing what she’d make each day. It felt like heaven on earth, and I truly hope we can return soon.
