Quand la Ville Dort

The mansion’s Art Deco restoration and decor make the stay feel really special, and our room was gorgeous. Vincent seems to have thought of everything. Breakfast was outstanding, and the location is convenient too. A unique experience I wouldn’t want to miss.

The included breakfast was fantastic. And the salon has such a mood: have a drink there in the evening and you’ll feel like you’re in a 1920s movie. Vincent has created a very special place, nothing like a typical hotel. It’s one of those places you’ll want to tell people about. I’ll leave the rest for you to discover. Bravo!

Be ready to haul your luggage up the stairs, but I thought it was well worth it. We stayed just one night, two couples on a Gironde bike ride, and had a great time. The Art Deco style is magnificent, with attention to every detail, and the beds are wide and comfortable. The host was great, breakfast was good, and the town and restaurants are only about 5-10 minutes away.

We had to leave early for the 7am train to Toulouse, and Vincent offered to prepare breakfast to take with us. That’s the kind of host he is. Earlier, he’d noticed us resting on the benches by the canal and brought our bags inside without being asked. After showering, with all the modern conveniences, we walked across the rail bridge to Le Grande Brasserie in the train station, where both the menu and food were just right. Back at Quand la ville dort, we spent a few hours talking with Vincent and heard about the work he put into creating this standout BnB in the Agen district. He found the old 1940's building, arranged the financing and managed the room upgrades, which have the latest styles, while keeping the decor retro 1940's with modern materials. It’s very well maintained, and there are private little spots around the place for drinks and nibbles. This is an experience, not just a room.
