Camping de l'Aigle

We rented a furnished tent in September 2025. The campsite is a good size, and it’s well placed for exploring what Verdon has to offer without being in a busy tourist spot like Castellane. The restaurant and bar are good, with a great view. Toilets were okay and very clean, though some didn’t have seats. Bread can be ordered, but pickup is only at 8:30 in the morning. For an earlier breakfast, Aiguines is a 10-minute walk away. Evenings could stay busy until at least 11 pm, and staff didn’t actively manage noisy guests while we were there. Cars can enter until the gate closes at 11 pm. Our tent, number 48, was beside a campsite road, so cars arriving as late as 11 woke us up. The showers were good, but you have to keep pressing the button for water. Once you let go, it stops in about 10 seconds. A five-minute shower slot would make more sense. The furnished tent’s beds were fairly small, 160 cm wide and only 200 cm long. There was no cooking stove as advertised, just a microwave. I can’t see why anyone would want a microwave in a tent; I’d much rather have a proper way to cook a meal.

The cottage was super clean and had all the amenities we needed. A perfect base for exploring the canyon.

I had a lovely shaded spot for my tent, and the sanitary facilities were clean and sufficient. The campground is right on the edge of Aiguines, with nature all around it. From the terrace, I couldn’t stop looking out over the lake and cliffs at sunset. The restaurant was surprisingly good. I had grilled camembert with fries, salad, and raw ham. The staff are young and cordial.

We’ve been here many times and stayed in a pod. It’s ideal just for sleeping, though there isn’t much room inside for clothes. There are two chairs and a table, which are handy for meals. The automatic toilets are very clean, and the restaurant is good quality.
