Le Manoir Sequoia

Our bikes were safely looked after overnight, and the room was quiet and comfortable for a stop on our ride. It had all we needed, including a microwave, fridge with freezer, kettle and TV. Many thanks to Jean Michel for the warm welcome. There aren’t many places to eat during this holiday period, but an Intermarché is about 1.2 km away, handy for picking up food. I recommend the place, and perhaps we’ll see you again.

We had to cut our stay short, from December 24th to 31st, because an unpleasant smell and cigarette smoke were drifting up into the cottage. Cottage number 4 looked like the photos, but inside it was filthy and poorly equipped. The floor was sticky, the dishes were chipped, and there was just one teaspoon for two people. The shower head was dirty, the two white bowls were grayish and filthy inside, only one wine glass could be used, and the champagne flutes were unbelievably dirty. In the evening, we even had to search the bedroom for bedbugs. There was a single mattress behind the sofa bed, with a piece of furniture that seemed meant to hold it, which was strange. Payment was in cash with no contract, and they asked for a tourist tax said to go to the town hall. There were two Gîtes de France signs, although the place is no longer a member. I absolutely do not recommend this cottage.

My family and I were disappointed when our reservation was canceled four months before the planned date. The reason given was a “family reservation,” which I didn’t consider professional. I can understand that some situations come up, but I still found how the lodge handled this inappropriate and unkind.

We had no complaints. The owner was welcoming and attentive, but still discreet. Our room was clean and tastefully decorated, and breakfast was very generous.
