The Wi-Fi didn’t work either, and the air conditioning was the main problem. In the scorching heat it was hard to manage, especially with a pet. We changed rooms, but the same issue affected all of them. The receptionist agreed the AC wasn’t working and suggested leaving the balcony doors open for airflow. I wouldn’t recommend staying here in summer.

In shade temperatures of 29-32 C, the air conditioning at Best Western Aquakub Hotel in Aix le Bains wasn’t working, and neither was the Wi-Fi. Reception gave us excuses about repairs, missing spare parts, and having no other rooms available. When I explained that my parents, aged 85 and 81, were suffering from the heat, I heard more excuses and saw reception staff laughing behind me. There were other problems too. Several room sockets didn’t work, there was no hand towel in the bathroom, and although the room phone rang, we couldn’t hear anyone speaking. A corridor bulb by the wardrobe had burned out and still hadn’t been replaced the next day. In a room for two, there were only five clothes hangers, and they wouldn’t provide more when asked. We’ve reported these serious shortcomings to Booking.com. I hope travelers using other platforms stay away from this hotel.

The breakfast terrace has a great view, and the hotel looks smart in a great location. But the air conditioning didn’t work, the ventilation was extremely loud, and I had unpleasant nights. My magnetic key also needed resetting seven times in three days. The place felt dysfunctional.

The rooms are spacious, and the service is standard. It’s a pleasant, quiet spot near the lake.

The hotel’s decor is beautiful, and the room was nice. It’s also very well placed, within walking distance of the lake. Breakfast on the rooftop terrace was a little odd, though, since birds were eating there with us.
