Le Clos Saint Raphael

You can hear every word people say in the other rooms because the walls are paper thin. The sanitary equipment is archaic, and the place needs a serious renovation to bring it into the 21st century. It feels stuck in the 1970s, with surface styling that seems meant for photos.

Absolutely fantastic. The atmosphere is lovely, and the people are so, so friendly. I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys that kind of place.

Great location, spacious rooms, and good breakfasts.

The bedrooms had a classic, minimalist look, and the apartment was on the right bank, a manageable walk from the castle. Just know that the road runs right past the terrace, so it isn't especially quiet. Also, it was advertised for six, with two beds and a sofa bed, but getting to the toilet or bathroom from the sofa bed meant walking through one of the bedrooms, which isn't great for privacy. The bigger problem was cleanliness. We arrived in the evening to find it hadn't been cleaned: the previous guests' towels were still crumpled in the bathroom, the sheets hadn't been changed, and the trash was overflowing. We had to do our own laundry at a laundromat and make the beds at 11 p.m. The owner and booking site offered no compensation, even though the price was quite high. The sofa bed was unmade too. This might have been an acceptable stay without the cleanliness issue, but I won't risk going back.
