Hotel Le Palma

The town was fully booked for the Cinema Festival, but the rate was still very good. We had a spacious, clean room, and the lobby has an interesting design. Check-in was warm and friendly, from a blonde lady whose name I’m sorry I can’t remember. It’s a five-minute walk from the train station, and another five minutes to restaurants and shops. A very pleasant one-night stay, thank you!

The hotel’s quirky style suits the city, and it’s central enough to get everywhere on foot. Staff were friendly and the rooms clean and good. They have garage parking for 8 euros a night, much cheaper than parking elsewhere in Angouleme.

The room was good and seemed newly decorated, the reception was okay, and there’s a large underground shopping mall just around the corner. But there’s no free parking, so we had to leave our fully loaded car in a public paid car park that closed overnight. Worst of all was the noise all night: young migrants shouting and screaming, and cars and bikes racing around. Never again.

Everything was clean and looked like the website pictures. Breakfast looked good, but I didn’t have time for it. The staff were cheerful and welcoming.
