The owners work hard to look after their guests, which isn’t always easy to find in a small town. I’ve stayed here for several nights and would happily return. The rooms are clean, the food is healthy and homemade, and there’s a welcoming bar with a cozy atmosphere. WiFi and space for hiking, skiing, or cycling gear are handy too. A real gem in Arette.

The restaurant was full when I arrived, but she guessed I was a cyclist and offered to make me food to eat in the bar. It was very tasty, rice and pasta with chicken, plus a bowl of casserole with meat and veg, followed by really nice chocolate cake. The beer was great too. I was too tired to have more, but I’d definitely return to the Hôtel de l’Ours. Five stars from me.

The Hotel de l'Ours is what makes Arette more than just a name on a map. The couple who settled here in the shadow of the Pyrenees are hardworking and generous, and they really support cyclists, serving hungry riders homemade meals with very local ingredients. It’s a comfortable, satisfying place, without any fuss or pretension. You can come as you are, enjoy a local craft beer or a creative cocktail at the intimate bar, then get ready for the next day’s adventures. If you want to support a genuine local business in the western Pyrenees, the "Bear Hotel" is the place to choose.

The husband and wife who run this lovely property in the heart of town are very nice. There’s a great coffee and bar on site, and the price is good. We’ll be back.

They clearly don’t know how to pour draft beer. They used a jar with old beer in it and a dirty cloth to clean the glass. Disgusting. I paid three euro for the experience and didn’t even drink it. Merci.
