Apartment Port Argeles

The hotel itself is good, but I’d pay extra for a suite or apartment. Most of the residents seemed to be elderly locals, with hardly any foreigners. The Wi-Fi didn’t work, even though I paid for it.

The staff were absolutely wonderful, and our spacious two-bedroom flat was great for four to six people. We chose the mountain-facing view and really liked it. I slept on the large, comfortable sofa bed, and was glad to find a kettle, since plenty of French places don’t have one. I honestly can’t think of a downside, so five stars. There’s a 7km beach, Lily's icecreams is the best in town, and we took the 1h 30m coastal walk to Colure before catching the bus back.

There are two outdoor pools, a children's playground, and lots of restaurants in the adjoining port and marina. The facilities are great, the rooms were clean, and the staff friendly. My one complaint is the lack of air conditioning. There’s a desktop fan, but it isn’t enough in summer.

We paid over €1900 for two weeks, and it wasn’t worth it. The car park was always full, and although there’s a barrier code, it seems easy to pass on to people nearby. Nests were all over the upper floors, leaving the balconies dirty all the time. We booked for four, including our two children, but the one-bedroom apartment with a sofa bed had towels for only two people. That really should be embarrassing. There’s no hairdryer, hoover or washing machine, and laundry costs €6 per wash in the laundry area. Wi-Fi also costs extra, and we only found out after paying that it was limited to two devices. We’ll come back to Argèles-sur-mer, but not this property.
