The kitchen was filthy, with grime everywhere, no towels, sponges, soap or decent dishes, and it looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in weeks. There was rotting food in the fridge and half-eaten cake packets that were meant to be breakfast. We asked for a refund and got no response. We were so disgusted we wished we’d taken photos. We finally left without getting in touch with the owner after around ten power cuts. There was no light or heating, it was 2 degrees Celsius, and our grandchildren were crying. Absolutely avoid this place. It’s a disgrace, and I’ve never experienced anything like this on Booking.com.

The room was awful, with a sticky floor and a bad smell of tobacco and other odors. The bathroom was disgusting, and we left because we were afraid of catching pubic lice. I’ve never seen anywhere so poorly maintained. Right by the front door there were empty toilet paper rolls on the floor, neglected greenery, pizza boxes with leftovers, and overflowing ashtrays. It shouldn’t be legal to rent rooms in this condition.

We couldn’t even lock the door properly because the key broke in the lock, so anyone could get in. The bathroom door wouldn’t shut and its handle was broken, and the radiator was lying on the floor. I stubbed my toe on it when I went to bed. The place smelled of cigarettes and mildew, and the shower and curtain were covered in mold. No one was there to welcome us, a neighbor showed us the room, and there were no towels or toilet paper. Outside, the garden was overgrown and there was no parking. The shared kitchen and cupboards were filthy and sticky with grime, and the coffee maker was too dirty to use. Their “all-you-can-eat” breakfast was just packets of cookies. The apartment looked nothing like the owner’s photos. It’s unacceptable to rent out rooms this dirty and unsanitary. Avoid at all costs. I’ll be reporting my dissatisfaction to Booking.com.

They expected us to sleep in someone else’s house with the door open, since they wanted us to take the accommodation without keys. They said the previous guests had supposedly taken them, but hadn’t told us or offered another option. I’ve never heard of anything like it. Luckily Booking.com refunded me. It was my worst stay in France. Everywhere else in Europe has been fine, just not with them. I don’t recommend this place.
