La Ferme des Vallees

We picked it as another decent option near the wedding venue we went to. Nothing fancy, but after a long French wedding all you really need is a bed, and it did the job. Just watch your head on the beams in the rooms and in the area beside the lobby as you walk through.

We stayed with our 3years old daughter and loved it. The old farm character has been kept really well, and the donkeys are still wandering around. It’s right in the middle of la fôret de Rambouillet, though beside the road. Breakfast is nice, especially getting up for a croissant, but at €15 it could be better. There are no TVs in the rooms, but for a night or two, who cares? Bring a book or Kindle. And don’t take the Tripadvisor reviews too seriously, it depends on what you’re after, and comparing with other places will always turn up flaws.

Set on spacious grounds with a range of amenities, this quaint resort hotel is about 25km southwest of central Paris. It was renovated from a former monastery and seems like a good choice for families.

The noise made it impossible to sleep, which was the opposite of a relaxing stay. The soundproofing was terrible, and the toilet had a major plumbing issue, making a deafening noise every 30 minutes all night. The breakfast was very average too. Such a shame, because the room was fine, the bed comfortable, and the location charming.
