Hotel De Strasbourg

We had a very bad experience. The toilet bowl was blocked and overflowing. We reported it at 7:00 in the morning, but nobody came to even look until 23:00. Then they started fixing it, and wastewater went into the shower outside and into the next room, flooding it and making it unusable. The place was dirty, too.

A filthy dump out in the sticks, with cockroaches, and a receptionist who’s a cheapskate. My advice is simple, don’t go there. The relevant authorities could do with giving the place a little inspection!

The toilet didn’t even have a bowl, and somehow they’d hidden gravel behind it. Cockroaches were practically living in the room. It was filthy, with pathetic bedding and no duvet cover or pillowcase. On top of that, the receptionist was bumming cigarettes off guests. I gave it one star because zero wasn’t an option. If I’d known, I’d have slept in my car.

The room was barely clean, with old, worn furniture, and the shower was only lukewarm. For the quality, the price was far too high. From 10:30 pm onward there was chaos, and the night porter did absolutely nothing. I had to get up and ask people to quiet down myself, with no effect. Doors kept slamming, people were talking extremely loudly, and there was constant traffic on the stairs. Everyone was walking on velvet, of course. Luckily I had earplugs, though they only helped a little. I really needed a good night's sleep, but got a short, restless night instead. What a shame.
