Hôtel les Mottets

I stayed at Les Mottets for the first time in the off-season. The modest property and room were nothing special, though it was clean, with windows facing the fields south and east of Aussois. Dinner didn’t inspire me: first artichoke with mustard sauce, then a baked chicken leg with whipped potatoes and milk gravy. I chose cheese from several options instead of dessert. At checkout, none of my credit cards worked on the hotel terminal. A quick call to my bank confirmed the problem was with the terminal or its phone connection, not my credit. After the proprietor reset it, my card went through immediately.

The hotel was dirty, with dust in the rooms and showers and toilets in poor condition. Staff were unfriendly, and when we raised it with the manager, he told us to leave if we didn’t like it. That didn’t feel professional. We had booked for 27 people at 170 euros a night and couldn’t find another hotel for the group at short notice. At that price, we expected cleanliness. I don’t understand how a place in such condition is still operating, and I wouldn’t recommend staying here. I could understand it at 30 euros, but not 170 euros per night.

Lovely setting and good service, though the room was nice but small. The WiFi was poor.

The staff are very competent, and the welcoming hotel can also host conferences, mastermind groups and seminars. I recommend Les Mottets 100%.
