We only slept there and left, so I can’t say much about the stay. The room was clean and nice, all ready for us. The hotel was closed when we arrived on Sunday, despite our booking, but a man from the restaurant across the road came over, called someone who answered right away, and gave us a pin to get in and our room number. The bar was busy at breakfast, and if that’s not for you, there are plenty of places to walk to in Autun.

The staff were remarkably helpful, and the free parking nearby was a big advantage. We also liked the air conditioning in the rooms and the hotel’s ongoing renovation, which was beautiful and tasteful. Breakfast at the Hôtel du Commerce was served in a beautifully renovated space that still kept its old-fashioned charm. The sweet and savory breakfast options were excellent.
