Gite Tranquyl

Very kind hosts, and a superb breakfast!

The welcome was warm, and the owners were really helpful. Our room had a fairly roomy balcony, and the bed was fine. The room itself was spacious but basic, with a good shower in the simple bathroom. I missed having somewhere to sit or a desk, and even a small chair and table would have helped. There were hardly any outlets, just one in the bathroom, so charging devices meant taking turns. Breakfast was a letdown, even though they served homemade jam and cheese from a nearby shop. We ate on a bench, picnic-style. Tranquyl is a quiet B&B just outside Barcelonette, and they lock the gate at night, so the car or motorcycle is secure inside. It has some drawbacks, but it's still a decent place to stay.

The parking is spacious and secure, with keypad access, and getting to Bercelonnette on foot is easy. We found the cottage peaceful, with a lovely view, and the couple running it were very welcoming and ready to help. Our room was clean, comfortable, and roomy. Breakfast was a highlight, plenty of variety and homemade food made with local products.

For anyone riding the Route des Grandes Alpes, this place is an easy recommendation. The hosts were so friendly, and breakfast had tasty homemade and regional specialties. The rooms were clean and lovely too. Thanks so much for having us!
