The flours, pastries, and pasta all looked tempting, and the owners were friendly, keeping the atmosphere relaxed. We loved seeing the mill, and got to try the hands-on work it takes to run it, including some pretty physical jobs like cleaning and sharpening the millstones. You really need to be passionate about this work. The setting is superb, and the whole visit was pure happiness.

A charming place, and the owner was welcoming. Just know that one room has a waterbed, which isn't great if you want a good night's sleep. That wasn't mentioned when booking, so there was no real choice about taking it. The cleaning could be better too: our bedroom and shower had several long black hairs, and there were stains on the floor that hadn't been cleaned.

We were seven adults sharing three rooms. Two rooms had two double beds, and the bedding was good. One room even had a very large water mattress, which was a surprise, but comfortable and quiet. Breakfast had plenty of homemade food, and everything we ate locally was tasty. We liked the quality enough to buy some pasta and flour, and we're sure we'll be back for more products soon. This place has kept its soul and authenticity, so we'll gladly return. Thanks for such a warm welcome, for sharing your passion, and for passing it on.

The miller's account of the restoration and how the place works took us back to another era. When our group of ten friends arrived at Bassac mill on Sunday at 11:15 am, he welcomed us warmly and opened the sluice gate. The waterwheel started turning, and after a few adjustments the mill was running. We also loved the crusty bread and flaky brioche. The pasta shells he cooked that evening were fantastic. A must-try!

The meals were delicious, succulent, and made with local ingredients. Hats off to the cook! Breakfast was just as good, with fresh bread made from the mill's own flour. It's a superb house, and the welcome was perfect. The miller's explanations and insights really transport you back in time. Such an ideal, welcoming stop, don't miss it!
