The listing left me feeling scammed. I expected the sea-view room shown in the photos, with its balcony and open view, but we got a room two floors underground with no view. Those pictures of high-floor rooms clearly don’t represent every room. There was no privacy either. People often stood right outside our door, smoking and taking photos, so we kept the curtains shut the whole time to stop strangers looking in. Even some of the hotel's own sea-view pictures show closed curtains, probably for the same reason. The room wasn't clean and had bugs. There's no elevator, so be prepared to haul your luggage down several steep flights of stairs. When I raised this with the manager, a woman with a mole on her upper lip, she was rude and dismissive. I asked for a partial refund or at least a complimentary breakfast because of the misleading listing and poor stay. She refused both. She shouldn't be dealing with guests. The fishbowl in the lobby gives you an idea of the hotel's standards. Its water was cloudy and full of waste, and the fish was visibly swimming in filth. Every guest walks past it, so if they don't look after that tank, you can imagine how little attention they give to cleanliness elsewhere. I don't recommend staying here if you don't want to be misled and treated poorly.

Service was super friendly and helpful, and the room was quiet, spotless, comfortable and updated, with an exceptional view. I booked the least expensive room, and it was spacious enough by European standards for two people staying a week, with closet space to match. The beautiful historic hotel was very quiet. The bathroom had double sinks, toiletries, robes and slippers. There were two well-placed outlets by the bed and one in the bathroom. Wi-Fi was good, though the TV felt like an afterthought, so bring your own entertainment. The safe was big enough for a tablet or small computer and accessories.

The breakfast was plentiful and gorgeous, and I’d love to come back. The staff were very friendly, the views amazing and the room lovely. The bathroom felt a bit basic for such a grand hotel, shower-wise, and the bedroom seemed plain because it lacked decoration while the rest of the place was so luxurious.

The room had a stunning location and view, and the room itself was nice. But for what we paid, I expected better. The bathroom was very mouldy, with black mould in the shower and around the floor, much of which looked like it could have been cleaned off. The fan above the shower was completely packed with dust and dirt.

We really enjoyed our stay. Our room had an amazing view of the port, and it was really big with all the facilities you'd expect. It’s also convenient for the old town and the sea front.
