Le Port Neuf

Right in the heart of the old city, close to shops and restaurants. It’s a quaint old building with a rickety staircase, and the room was comfortable and clean. We heard some noise, but it didn’t bother us. The proprietor was very friendly, and it was great value for the price. We’d definitely come back on our travel budget.

Leon had arranged everything for an out-of-hours check-in after our trains were cancelled for six hours. We were stopping over on the way from Bordeaux to SJPdP, and the stay was clean, quiet, and comfortable. The breakfast attendant was pleasant and well presented. I chose room 6, directly above the cafe, looking out over the street. There’s an Irish pub two minutes away, the train station is five minutes away, and the cathedral is a one-minute walk. Thoroughly recommended.

The owner, Leon, was kind and helpful, always with a cheerful smile. We had a lovely, charming, clean room in a small hotel right in the centre, above a restaurant on a pedestrian street surrounded by shops, restaurants, and the main attractions. A note for anyone with mobility issues: the stairs up to the rooms are steep and narrow.

A small, friendly hotel above a bar, with a fine room, helpful staff, and good breakfast. The staff pointed us to some great restaurants, all an easy walk away. It’s right in the heart of Bayonne, about five minutes on foot from the airport bus stop and ten from the station. There’s no lift or disabled access, and stairs lead to all the rooms in this tall building. Oddly, room six is on the first floor, so you could ask for it if you’d rather avoid too many stairs.
