We loved our first visit to Arêches and are already planning to come back. The rooms are small, though comfortable enough, and the staff kindly welcomed our dog. The restaurant food was really good, and the location worked great for us, with the ski bus stop right outside and several places nearby to rent equipment.

The food was a real highlight, with a different half-board menu each evening alongside the usual Savoyard dishes. Service was charming, and there's a cozy lounge, free Wi-Fi, and ski storage with its own outside entrance. The hotel sits about 100m from the Grand Mont chairlift, right in the center of the lovely alpine village. There are two supermarkets, a bar, a brewery with excellent Birra Menta beer available at the hotel, and around 16,000 ski shops. The rooms are small, but have what you need. Reception can lend you a hairdryer if you ask.

After a week of hiking, we were rudely told that we couldn't use even one of the three rooms to shower before 16:00. The woman hosting us was unfriendly. She also accidentally charged us twice, a total of 225 euros, which can happen, but she returned the money in a very unfriendly way.

The staff were super friendly, and the restaurant had a nice feel. I appreciated that the kids' menu had proper food instead of the usual nuggets and fries, which you don't often find.

The food was lovely, but once the restaurant got busy, they struggled to keep up. I think just one or two extra staff would have made our experience quite different.
