Hôtel Mercure Beauvais Centre Cathédrale

The room was good, and the location made it easy to stroll around town or head to the airport. It would also suit a one-night stop after a late arrival. I might stay again if flight times made it impractical to stay farther away, but I hope for better service next time. Of the ten hotels we stayed in during our Northern France road trip, this was the only one that didn’t ask for a review. Perhaps they wanted to avoid a bad rating. My low score comes from my experience, though it may have been a one-off. There was nobody at reception when I arrived. I rang the bell twice, then waited more than five minutes while the receptionist finished a cigarette break outside with friends or colleagues. It was a quiet afternoon, I was the only person in the lobby, and he was close to the entrance, so I thought he must have seen me. Parking is limited and can’t be reserved. There was no space when I arrived, and the receptionist told me where to look for paid or free parking. That was OK, but the next morning I saw cars on the hotel lawn and wondered why he hadn’t mentioned that as an option. I did find free parking a short distance away. Breakfast was the most disappointing part of our holiday. I’m not sure why, perhaps they were short-staffed, but it seemed easy to give guests a better experience. There was no orange juice at first. I asked, and they brought a small bottle that was soon empty. Several empty bottles were left in plain sight beside the cooler and never replaced. The cheese, salami, and ham weren’t replenished either, leaving empty trays, and there seemed to be little yogurt. There was no bread until I asked; ten minutes later, some fresh bread arrived, but I doubt there was enough for everyone. We’d been looking forward to a nice breakfast on our last morning in France, and this was the worst one of the trip. We’d stayed at several Mercure hotels and expected the same service as at the others. Maybe the staff could get some experience at the Mercure in Rouen.

Don’t miss the breakfast, and the rooms are excellent. The hotel itself is fine. The evening menu has only one meat dish, though, and it’s been the same since at least 2022.

Cozy and clean, with parking options and electric chargers nearby. It’s a 15-minute drive from Beauvais airport and very close to Beauvais cathedral.

From our room we had a lovely view of the stunning cathedral. The hotel is central and just 10 minutes from the airport. We stayed one night, found the room spotless and like new, and really enjoyed the excellent breakfast.
