Lou Cardalines

I came to stay at Lou Cardalines for a cycling event, and Coco went out of her way to make things comfortable. She arranged early breakfasts and, since there was availability, a late checkout. The room was fairly basic, but clean and comfortable. I’d highly recommend staying here.

Our room was spotless, with a lovely view across the valley in the morning as the sun came up. Each room also has a little private terrace, a nice spot to relax or have an evening aperitif. Coco (Corinne) and Eric were such warm, friendly hosts. Breakfast was a feast, with Coco’s homemade jams, fresh bread from the local bakery, cereals and freshly cooked crepes if you wanted them. Plenty to set you up for the day. It’s about 4kms from Bedoin on the road to Ventoux. There are lots of restaurants in Bedoin, plus two within walking distance in Sainte Columbe. Since most local restaurants close midweek, Eric cooked us dinner one evening. It was great to eat with him, Coco and the other guests, and chat while practicing our French and Dutch. For cycling, there’s a barn for storing bikes, locked at night, and the gates are always closed too. Bedoin has a Carrefour Contact for essentials, with a pharmacy just across the road. The local wines are excellent and inexpensive. Monday is market day, when traffic is closed throughout town, but there’s a permanent diversion sign if you want to go somewhere else. It’s a peaceful spot, with plenty of places to visit nearby, including Avignon, Les Gorges de la Nesque, Vaison-la-Romaine, Malaucène and, of course, Ventoux. We’ll definitely be back next year.

We had brilliant accommodation here, whether you’re coming as a couple or with a cycling group. I’m pretty sure you won’t find a better breakfast anywhere in France. We’ll be back for the hospitality and the local market in Bedoin, where you could easily spend a whole day. If you’re in the area, this is the place to stay.

It’s in a great spot at the bottom of Mont Ventoux, about 4k up. The couple were lovely, and they’ll do a great breakfast whenever you want. There’s also the added bonus of their restaurant across the road.
