The pool was lovely, the rooms were fine, and the restaurant staff were delightful. Being able to check in early made this a pleasant stop on our cycling day. But the receptionist, Stephanie, was obstructive and refused every option for charging our eBikes, even after I explained how badly we needed it. There seemed to be several ways it could have been arranged. In three weeks of riding, this was the only hotel that wouldn’t let us charge them.

We were glad to leave. The staff weren’t particularly helpful, and the place felt like it needed a thorough clean. It may have been grand once, but now it’s very tired and needs a lot of care.

After a long day riding, the fantastic shower was a real relief. We only stayed one night in this lovely little town, but the hotel was comfortable, with a nice retro feel. Our room was a good size, the bed was comfortable, and the property sits in large grounds a few minutes’ walk from town.

The staff were friendly enough, but for what we paid, the bedding was ridiculous. Instead of proper sheets, there was a cheap plastic cover that tore easily and left us hot and sweaty at night. It wasn’t comfortable at all.

The area is great, with a few little restaurants nearby, and there’s a lovely pool in the garden. We only stayed one night. The restaurant menu had no vegan options, but the woman at reception listened to us and arranged a vegetable meal. She was very nice and helpful, thank you.
